Setup before the game

• Players place an equal amount of Menko on the floor.
• Draw a ring or Dohyō (土俵) around the wagered Menko.
• Play a round of "Jan Ken" (rock-paper-scissors) to determine who goes first.

How to win

Okoshi (起こし)

• Throw one of your Menko at your opponent’s cards on the floor. If you flip the opponent’s menko, then the you win!

Hataki (はたき)

• If you throw a Menko and it manage to push your opponent’s Menko outside of the ring, then the you win!

Sabaori (さばおり)

• If you throw your Menko and it slides underneath an opposing Menko, you win!
